Over 4700 Water and Sanitation facilities were affected with an estimated cost of Rs. 6.1 bn. To date, Physical work has begun on 96% projects, 76.17% projects are completed and remaining are at advance stage of completion. To address the water quality and hygiene issues, a comprehensive project of “Water Quality Improvement & Promotion of Hygiene” (WAQIPH) has been launched. In addition, 8-water quality labs are being established with the assistance of WHO. Rain Water Harvesting is being promoted as one of the best alternative and supplementary solution to mitigate the water scarcity issue in EQAAs. A pilot project of Rs 496 million has been approved which will benefit about 240,000 population of 20 Union Councils of EQAAs.
