Progress made by NESPAK in designing of educational facilities in AJ&K and NWFP reviewed in a high level meeting

English | Urdu

A meeting was held at ERRA Headquarters on February 10, 2010 to review the progress made by NESPAK in designing educational facilities in AJ&K and NWFP. Section Head Education, Syed Majid Ali and Section Head Education, Salman Shahid, apprised the participants about the following details regarding designing of educational institutions in AJ&K and NWFP, respectively:

• In AJ&K, out of 1965, 640 educational facilities are left to be designed, whereas 1325 facilities have been designed. In

Governance Sector, 94 % designing work has been completed. In Health and Transport Sector 100% designing has been

  completed.

• In NWFP, out of 2301, only 404 education facilities are left to be designed. In Health Sector 97% of the designing has

been completed. In Transport Sector 99% roads and 86% bridges have been designed.

Keeping in view encouraging speed and progress shown by NESPAK, during the last few months, Mr Tariq Bajwa, DG P – IV, proposed that left-over projects in Education Sector might also be designed by NESPAK instead of outsourcing them, as decided earlier. While expressing his reservations on the given proposal, Brig ® Pervaiz Hayat Niazi, DG P-II, said that a lot of efforts had been made to study the feasibility of outsourcing designing of Education Sector buildings; issue must be thoroughly deliberated upon before taking a decision, particularly when 1044 projects in Education Sector still remain to be designed in AJ&K and NWFP by March 31, 2010. The Deputy Chairman agreed with DG P-II.
