Minister for Industries and Commerce KPK, Syed
Ahmad Shah, called on the Deputy Chairman ERRA,
Lt Gen Muhammad Haroon Aslam, in his office on
July 9, 2010. In his meeting with the Deputy
Chairman, the Honourable Minister appreciated
ERRA’s reconstruction and rehabilitation
efforts, especially in Tehsil Balakot and
surrounding areas. He particularly mentioned
work done in Education and Health Sectors.
Drawing Deputy Chairman’s attention to the
termination of contract for construction of
Shinkiari - Nawazabad Road, he requested to
review this decision. He also showed his concern
over ERRA’s decision not to start construction
of certain other roads in the area, and
requested if the decision could be reconsidered,
keeping in view the future needs of affected
areas. He suggested that the complaints
regarding the substandard quality of work on
roads may be looked into personally by the
Deputy Chairman.
He apprised the Deputy Chairman that 918 cases
of non payment of housing compensation were
reported in UC Kaghan and UC Mahandri, but non
existence of such cases has been reported by the
concerned ERRA staff, supposedly without proper
survey. The honourable Minister also requested
the Deputy Chairman for the provision of 500
additional pre-fabricated houses for Red Zone
Balakot.
The Deputy Chairman directed the concerned PMs
to look into issues raised by the Honourable
Minister and submit a comprehensive report to
him within a week.
Syed Ahmad Shah thanked the Deputy Chairman for
the construction work carried out in KPK,
especially in old Balakot Red Zone under the Old
Balakot Improvement Plan. He added that after
the implementation of the Peripheral Development
Plan of old Balakot, the condition of old
Balakot will improve to a great extent.
