Chief Operating Officer CXB meets the Deputy Chairman ERRA

On July 13, 2010 Deputy Chairman ERRA, Lt Gen Muhammad Haroon Aslam, held a meeting with the Chief Operating Officer, China Xinjiang Beixin (CXB) Construction and Engineering Group, Mr. Zhao Mingsheng. Brig Masuood Ahmad, Chief of Staff ERRA, Mr. Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh, DG PIII ERRA, Mr. Muhammad Sayyar, Director (Urban Development AJ&K) and Ms. Sophie, Deputy Director CXB, were also present in the meeting.

The Deputy Director CXB updated the Deputy Chairman ERRA about the state of Priority –I projects under City Development Projects, being executed by CXB in three earthquake affected districts of AJ&K. In Muzaffarabad, out of a total of 11 projects, only one project is being launched, remaining 10 projects are at various stages of approval and designing. In Rawalakot and Bagh, out of a total of 15 and 5 projects, respectively, none has been launched, so far.

Showing his concern over slow progress of CXB, Deputy Chairman ERRA particularly brought following issues to the notice of CXB officials:

• Slow progress on Tahlee Mandi Road.
• Detailed designs and preparation of BOQs of remaining projects are pending despite repeated reminders.
• Detailed design of Hullar Bridge and Ring Road is yet to be finalised. • The camp office of CXB is yet to be established at Rawalakot.
• The survey work of nine projects is still to be started.

Deputy Chairman desired that to accelerate the pace of work following measures be initiated without further loss of time:
• Four bridges, to be constructed by CXB, should be launched at the earliest.
• The projects with no land issues and handed over to CXB be taken up immediately.
• Designing of projects be expedited so that physical execution can be started.

CXB assured Deputy Chairman that in the next two months many projects including the bridges would be launched in the three earthquake affected districts of AJ&K.
