The progress of various ongoing reconstruction
projects, in NWFP and AJ&K, was reviewed in a high
level meeting held at the ERRA Headquarters on
February 11, 2010. Altaf Muhammad Saleem, Chairman
ERRA, presided over the meeting. Lt Gen Sajjad
Akram, Deputy Chairman ERRA and other senior
officials of ERRA and NESPAK attended the meeting.
Brig (R) Pervaiz Hayat Niazi, DG P II, presented
detailed progress in all hard core and soft core
sectors. He also briefed about the targets achieved
to date, and certain snags being experienced. While
showing his satisfaction over the present pace of
work, the Chairman desired ERRA’s involvement in
designing and manufacturing of furniture for
educational institutions to ensure their durability
and designing keeping in view the users’
requirements. He directed that contractors may be
asked to provide samples for approval by ERRA,
which may be used as prototype for subsequent
supplies. The Chairman showed his concern over poor
designing of science laboratories in certain
institutions by NESPAK.
Referring to his recent visit to EQAAs, the
Chairman shared his observations with the house
regarding certain WatSan schemes and projects,
which have started showing pre-mature signs of
wearing out. He directed that the matter be looked
into, to initiate necessary corrective measures,
and to ensure their durability in future.
DG P III, Tahir Shahbaz, gave a briefing on AJ&K
Urban Development Programme. The Chairman directed
that requirements of AJ&K Government may be
obtained to incorporate them in the priority
projects. He also instructed that completion of
projects in Urban Development Programme must be
ensured within the given time frame.
