 EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES 2010

Programme for professional development of ERRA staff launched

English | Urdu

Following his appointment as the Deputy Chairman ERRA, Lt Gen Muhammad Haroon Aslam, toured all wings at the ERRA Headquarters, where he was briefed about the functioning, mandate, mission, etc. of each department by the concerned DGs/Advisors. During his visit of offices, he had the opportunity to meet ERRA officials, individually. Established as an event-specific organisation in the wake of the October 8, 2005 earthquake, ERRA has been structured so that its workforce comprises the staff who have been employed on a contractual basis; others, belonging to armed forces and civil departments, are working in ERRA on a deputation. As a result ERRA, though a hybrid organisation, is deprived of the advantages of a permanent setup. The Deputy Chairman, in light of his observations, noted that as opposed to the employees of a permanent establishment, little or no attention was being paid to the professional development of ERRA’s staff. In view of this, he directed to make suitable arrangements for the professional development of all staff at the level of Deputy Directors and above. In the light of Dy Chairman's directions, three lectures of thirty minute duration each have since been conducted.

On 22nd June 2010, Sector Coordinator, Aftab Ismail delivered a lecture on “How to Boost Your Productivity at Work” in the auditorium at the ERRA Headquarters. On 23rd June 2010, Project Director MRDEA, Brig Dr. Allah Bakhsh Rang (Retd) gave a talk on “Stress Management”. On 24th June 2010 Advisor Knowledge Management Cell, Brig Muhammad Asif (Retd) highlighted types and functions of informal groups in an organisation in a lecture titled “Informal Groups in an Organization”. This process of professional development via lectures will serve to enhance the capacity of ERRA staff. 12 lectures are scheduled to be conducted by 27th July 2010.
