Islamabad July 14, 2010: While talking to media
after detailed briefings by Project Director
Rawalakot and Programme Manager District
Reconstruction Unit Poonch, the Chairman ERRA,
Altaf Mohammad Saleem, said that timely
completion of remaining construction projects is
the top priority of ERRA. He told the media that
successful handling of the massive challenge
posed by earthquake 2005 was made possible due
to unflinching commitment of Governments of
Pakistan, AJ&K and KPK, and resolve of the
affected people. He further informed that so far
2675 projects have been completed in AJ&K, which
include 422 fully completed and 1331 under
construction educational buildings, whereas in
health sector 62 facilities have been completed
and other 67 are under construction. To ensure
timely completion of remaining projects both
Chairman and Deputy Chairman ERRA are frequently
visiting their sites, the Chairman told the
media persons.
The Deputy Chairman ERRA, Lt Gen Muhammad Haroon
Aslam, who was accompanying the Chairman said
that completion of health and education
institutions are on high priority of ERRA as
good education and proper healthcare facilities
are vital to bring about normalcy in the
earthquake affected areas of AJ&K and KPK,
besides laying solid foundation for sustained
socio-economic development of the people of
affected areas. Realizing the significance of
state-of-the-art health and educational
facilities, as means of reviving the moral of
quake victims and of long term progress and
prosperity of these areas, ERRA is paying
special attention to speedy completion of
schools and hospitals buildings, added General
